" The act of painting holds strong material and methodical characteristics that soothe and challenge me. More than that, painting allows me to isolate aspects of what I observe every day and put them in a space that I have complete control over. The majority of my most recent works have evolved from snapshot photographs taken out of my car window. The painted worlds that emerge are bare, cold, quiet places where human presence is questioned or overwhelmed by space. "
